Well said; echoes my experience as well, although I’ve also mostly stopped using Strava altogether and it’s been great in a similar way. Something I would have thought completely unimaginable just a couple years back.
After my stupid year and now scaling back from it, I have re-discovered joy in the 30-40 mile ride. It is an absolute treasure where everything just seems... better. I look forward to riding less and enjoying more in 2023. Happy New Year, Spencer!
It would be nice if Strava integrated technology that quantifies how many "new" miles of road we ride per year (like Wandrer.earth is able to do). But, yeah, quality versus quantity, the age old debate. Quality always wins. Of course, if you can combine high volume with high exploration value, then you have the winning recipe.
I totally feel that, although I was surprised that I got double what I was expecting, 2022 was ahh... **gets flashbacks and PTSD** quite rough, but at least I rode bikes!!!

Yeah it’s kind of nice not being wrecked for days after riding too eh??

Gotta look on the bright side!
Exactly, 2022 was the valley I had to climb out of, and it was a trip.
Smiles > miles
LOL come on Ben, I know you ride like 800 hours a year ;-)
That comment was for you. For me, I am all about petty measurement over meaningful enjoyment. 10,000+mi/yr. I should start counting beers...
I dare you to ride less than 10,000 miles in 2023!
No.
Thanks! Definitely MTB changes the metrics a lot, as does slower gravel.
